So last year I found an old photo of Von Hayes at spring training acting all Charlie Manuel like, with the hands down the pants and what not (see here). I was hoping that as the manager of the Camden Riversharks, Hayes would manage with hands in his pants as well.
I finally got the opportunity to check out a Riversharks game last night thanks to Tug Haines (of Casual Fan Project/Fightins fame) who was back home for a weekend off from his mega minor league baseball trip. He was asked to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, and Blue Crabs starting pitcher (and twitter guy) Michael Schlact was pitching, so seemed like a good time to see if Von Hayes had his hands down his pants.
I'm sad to report that he did not :(
Hands totally nowhere near his pants. Oh well.
Campbell's Field was a nice little stadium, though. I had a really good time watching a WFC play 3rd base.
And got to see Tug throw a strike to start off the game festivities:
It was also Riversharks' mascot Finley's birthday yesterday - so they brought out sooooo many other mascots to celebrate with him. Including Wally WaWa - a goose. I had no idea WaWa actually had a mascot costume....
And lastly - some photos of Michael Schlact doing his thing. being all tall and what not. He picket up the win for the Blue Crabs too.
